Navy Federal Flagship Rewards Credit Card Benefits

Generous Welcome Bonus

For a limited time, the Navy Federal Flagship Rewards Card is offering an excellent bonus: You can earn 35k bonus points (a $350 value) when you spend $3,500 within the first 90 days of opening. Plus, get a FREE Amazon Prime® membership ($139 value, annually). Offer valid for accounts applied for between 1/2/26 – 6/30/26.*.

High Earning Potential

When deciding between the best rewards credit cards, you want one that will help you maximize points on your regular purchases. While many rewards cards earn just 1x points on everyday purchases, you’ll get an unlimited 2x points with the NFCU Flagship Rewards Card. When booking travel, you’ll get 50% more points for a total of 3x per dollar. To maximize my rewards, I like to pair a 2x card like this one with others whose bonus categories match my highest spending areas, like groceries, gas and dining.

Shop the NFCU Member Deals, and you can earn up to 15x points on eligible purchases.

Global Entry or TSA PreCheck Reimbursement

Use your Flagship Rewards Card to pay for Global Entry or TSA PreCheck application fees, and you’ll be reimbursed up to $120 once every four years. I love these benefits when traveling because they let me get through security and U.S. Customs faster than I would in the regular lines.

Since many of my cards offer this perk, I use the extra credits to help my family and friends enjoy the benefits when traveling, too. Compare the best credit cards for TSA PreCheck and Global Entry to find one that matches your travel habits.

Free Amazon Prime Membership

If you love shopping online as I do, then you’ll appreciate the free Amazon Prime membership. It includes a variety of free benefits, like fast shipping on eligible purchases, video and music streaming, photo storage and more. Simply charge the annual fee to your card to get reimbursed up to $139 per year.

No Foreign Transaction Fees

The best travel credit cards help you avoid unpleasant surprises. Use the Navy Federal Flagship Rewards Card during international travel to avoid hidden fees of up to 3% on purchases made outside the U.S. With no foreign transaction fees, you can save money when you travel abroad.

Navy Federal Flagship Rewards Credit Card Drawbacks

Must Be a Navy Federal Credit Union Member

The NFCU Flagship Rewards Credit Card is not available to everyone. You must be active or retired military, a family or household member, a Department of Defense employee or one of the other eligible categories to join Navy Federal Credit Union and apply.

No Airline or Hotel Transfer Partners

You can redeem your points for cash, travel, gift cards and more with no blackout dates. However, Navy Federal does not have any airline or hotel transfer partners where you can redeem your rewards for outsized value.

Does Not Offer an Intro APR Promotion

Many people are looking for an introductory APR offer on balance transfers or purchases to eliminate interest charges on their credit card debt. These promotions generally last a year or longer, allowing you to pay off your balance over time without incurring interest.

Unfortunately, the Flagship Rewards Card does not offer an intro APR promotion. However, if you need to do a balance transfer, you’ll avoid paying the 3% to 5% balance transfer fees that most cards charge on those transactions.

Limited Travel Protections

When booking travel with this card, you receive secondary rental car insurance, travel accident insurance and travel and emergency assistance at no charge. As a travel credit card, it lacks protections such as trip cancellation or interruption insurance, trip delay coverage, and lost or delayed baggage insurance.

With secondary rental protection, you’ll need to involve your own auto insurance policy if there’s damage to the rental car.

Who Is the NFCU Flagship Rewards Credit Card Best For?

The Navy Federal Credit Union Flagship Rewards Card is best for eligible travelers seeking flexible rewards without a high annual fee. With a low annual fee of $49, it is easy for cardholders to come out ahead with bonus points on every purchase and the free Amazon Prime membership.

I appreciate how it earns at least 2x points on every purchase and provides instant value with the free Amazon Prime membership. That perk alone covers the annual fee.

Is It the Right Card for You?

Given its high value relative to its low annual fee, the Navy Federal Flagship Rewards Card may be a good fit if you:

  • Are an eligible servicemember, retiree, DoD employee or family member
  • Want a high earning rate on everyday spending
  • Shop at Amazon frequently
  • Want to breeze through airport security and U.S. Customs
  • Travel internationally

Alternatives to the Navy Federal Flagship Rewards Credit Card

While the Navy Federal Flagship Rewards Card offers solid value, it isn’t the right card for every situation, especially if you aren’t eligible to apply for it. These travel credit cards offer valuable benefits and flexible rewards that can be transferred to airline and hotel partners:

  • Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card: The Sapphire Preferred Card is ideal for those who spend heavily on its bonus categories: 5x on travel booked through Chase Travel℠, 3x on dining and online grocery orders and 2x on all other travel. The Chase Ultimate Rewards® points it earns can be used to book travel, get cash back, transfer to partners and more. Chase Sapphire travel insurance is robust, and you get up to $50 in annual Chase Travel hotel credit. New cardholders can earn 75,000 bonus points after spending $5,000 on purchases within the first three months of account opening.
  • Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card: The Venture Card is an excellent option for people who want a high rewards rate on everyday purchases without having to remember bonus categories. It earns an unlimited 2x Capital One miles on every purchase (and 5x on hotels, vacation rentals and rental cars booked through Capital One), plus new cardholders can earn 75,000 bonus miles after spending $4,000 on purchases within the first three months of account opening. The card offers limited travel protections and extended warranty coverage, as well as complimentary Hertz® Five Star status* (enrollment required) and exclusive benefits through Capital One’s Lifestyle Collection of premium hotels.

I prefer earning flexible points because there are so many options to redeem them. I can book reservations like cash, transfer to book an award reservation or get cash back to spend the money however I choose.
