Navy Federal Flagship Premier Card Review: Premium Travel Rewards Without the High Annual Fee
The Navy Federal Credit Union Flagship Premier Visa Signature® Credit Card is a new travel rewards card designed for Navy Federal members who want strong earning rates and useful travel perks without paying several hundred dollars for an annual fee.
It earns 4x points on eligible travel purchases, 3x points on eligible restaurant purchases and 1x points on everything else1. It also offers a $100 annual airline statement credit2 that can effectively offset the card’s $95 annual fee3, along with up to $120 in credits toward Global Entry or TSA Pre✓® application fees every four years.4
Unlike some premium credit cards, the Flagship Premier Card doesn’t require you to book through a proprietary travel portal to earn its elevated travel rewards. You can also redeem your points for cash back, travel, gift cards and more, giving you flexibility if your plans change.
That said, the Flagship Premier Card doesn’t offer the deep ecosystem of airline and hotel transfer partners that some premium travel cards provide, and you’ll need to spend at least $100 on eligible airline purchases each year to make the most of the card.
Everything you need to know before you apply is here in our Navy Federal Flagship Premier Card review.

CardCritics™ Opinion
The Navy Federal Flagship Premier Card is a compelling travel rewards option for eligible members who want strong earning rates without a complicated rewards strategy. The $95 annual fee is easy to justify if you spend at least $100 on eligible airline purchases each year, and 4x points on travel is a strong ongoing rate. However, travelers who want airline and hotel transfer partners or extensive premium travel protections may find better options elsewhere

CONS
Navy Federal Flagship Flagship Premier Benefits
Welcome Offer
For a limited time, the Navy Federal Flagship Premier Card has a strong welcome offer: You can earn 50k points when you spend $4,000 within the first 90 days of opening. Offer valid for accounts applied for between 09/10/2026 and 01/03/2027.5 This is a competitive bonus for a mid-tier travel card.
Elevated Earning Rates on Travel and Dining
The Flagship Premier Card earns 4 points per dollar on eligible travel purchases, including airlines, hotels, car rentals, cruises, transit, taxis, bus lines, parking and timeshares.1
That’s a broad travel category compared with cards that limit elevated rewards to airfare or require bookings through a specific travel portal. You can earn the 4x rate without changing how you book your travel. As with most rewards credit cards, merchant coding matters. Navy Federal relies on merchant category codes to determine whether a purchase qualifies for a bonus category, so a purchase that doesn’t receive an eligible travel code may earn the card’s 1x base rate instead.
Travel isn’t the only way to earn elevated rewards. Eligible restaurant purchases earn 3 points per dollar, giving cardholders an opportunity to build their rewards balance between trips. Restaurant purchases must be coded as eligible dining transactions to receive the 3x rate.1 For example, a restaurant located inside another establishment, such as a casino, grocery store or event venue, may not receive a restaurant merchant code and could earn just 1 point per dollar.1
$100 Annual Airline Statement Credit
The Flagship Premier Card charges a $95 annual fee3, but it includes a $100 annual airline statement credit2 that more than justifies the cost. To receive the credit, you must spend at least $100 on eligible airline purchases each year. You can meet the requirement with one purchase or multiple purchases totaling at least $100.
The credit resets each year on the anniversary of your account opening or card establishment if upgrading from another card, and unused credit doesn’t roll over. Only purchases coded as airline or air carrier transactions qualify.
For someone who buys at least $100 in eligible airfare each year, this is one of the card’s biggest advantages: You don’t need to assign a value to a complicated collection of lifestyle credits to justify the annual fee. You simply need to spend $100 on qualifying airline purchases.
Global Entry or TSA Pre✓® Credit
The Flagship Premier Card also provides up to $120 in statement credits toward an eligible Global Entry or TSA Pre✓® application fee once every four years.4 The credit is available once every four years per eligible card number. You’ll need to pay the application fee with the Flagship Premier Card, and Navy Federal says statement credits can take six to eight weeks to post.
Flexible Redemption Options
Some travel rewards cards are built around airline frequent flyer programs, hotel loyalty programs or transferable rewards. The Flagship Premier Card takes a simpler approach. You can redeem your points for travel, cash back, gift cards and more. That flexibility can be useful if your travel plans change or you simply don’t want to learn the ins and outs of a complicated points ecosystem.
The tradeoff is that travelers who enjoy transferring points to airline and hotel loyalty programs for potentially outsized value won’t have that option with the Flagship Premier Card.
No Rewards Cap or Expiration
There is no limit to how many points you can earn with the Flagship Premier Card, and your points don’t expire as long as your account remains open.
That’s especially handy for travelers who may not take frequent trips. You can continue accumulating rewards over time rather than worrying about an annual earning limit or a rewards expiration date.
No Foreign Transaction Fees
The Flagship Premier Card doesn’t charge foreign transaction fees,3 making it a practical card for international travel. A card with no foreign transaction fees can save you money when making purchases outside the U.S., where cards that charge a percentage-based fee can add an unnecessary cost to your trip.
A Metal Card
The Flagship Premier Card is the first Navy Federal Credit Union credit card to feature a metal design. The metal construction won’t increase your rewards or reduce your travel costs, but it does give the card a more substantial feel than a traditional plastic credit card. For some cardholders, that’s a small but tangible part of the premium-card experience.
Navy Federal Flagship Premier Card Drawbacks
You Need To Spend on Airlines To Maximize the Card
The $100 annual airline statement credit2 is one of the easiest ways to justify the Navy Federal Flagship Premier Card‘s $95 annual fee3 — but only if you actually use it. You’ll need to spend at least $100 on eligible airline purchases each year to trigger the credit, and unused credit doesn’t roll over — it’s use it, or lose it.
If you rarely fly or don’t expect to spend $100 on qualifying airline purchases, you’ll want to evaluate whether the card’s rewards and other benefits provide enough value to make the annual fee worth it. This is less complicated than many premium card credits, but it’s still a benefit you need to use.
No Airline or Hotel Transfer Partners
The Flagship Premier Card offers flexible redemptions, but it doesn’t let you transfer points to airline or hotel loyalty programs. That’s not necessarily a problem for someone who values simplicity. In fact, avoiding transfer partners is part of the card’s straightforward appeal.
But experienced points-and-miles enthusiasts who know how to leverage transfer bonuses and award charts may be able to get more value from a card with a transferable rewards currency.
Limited Appeal for Infrequent Travelers
The card’s strongest benefits are travel-focused. If you rarely fly, don’t spend much at restaurants and aren’t likely to use the Global Entry or TSA Pre✓® credit4, you may have trouble getting enough value from the card to justify its annual fee. A no-annual-fee credit card may make more sense if travel isn’t a regular part of your spending.
Navy Federal Membership Is Required
Like other Navy Federal credit cards, the Flagship Premier Card is available only to eligible Navy Federal Credit Union members. Membership is open to active-duty service members, veterans, families, and DoD civilians. If you don’t qualify for Navy Federal membership, you won’t be able to apply for the card. Visit the Navy Federal membership page for more details. Navy Federal is insured by NCUA.
Who Is the Navy Federal Flagship Premier Card Best For?
The Navy Federal Flagship Premier Card is best suited to eligible members who travel regularly and want a no-fuss way to earn rewards on travel and dining.
It’s particularly appealing if you:
- Spend at least $100 a year on eligible airline purchases
- Want to earn 4x points on a broad range of travel purchases1
- Dine out often
- Prefer flexible redemptions over airline and hotel transfer partners
- Want Global Entry or TSA Pre✓® reimbursement
- Don’t want to manage a travel booking portal
- Prefer a modest annual fee over the $500-plus fees charged by many premium travel cards
Is It the Right Card for You?
The Flagship Premier Card occupies an interesting spot in the travel credit card market. It offers some features associated with more expensive premium cards, but its $95 annual fee3 keeps the barrier to entry relatively low.
The card makes the most sense if you’ll naturally use the $100 airline credit2 and can take advantage of the 4x travel and 3x dining categories.1 In that case, the card can provide meaningful ongoing value without requiring you to track a long list of monthly or quarterly credits.
However, the card isn’t necessarily the best choice for someone who wants to squeeze maximum value from every point. If you’re comfortable managing transfer partners, travel portals and multiple cards, you may find a more lucrative rewards strategy elsewhere.
For everyone else, the Flagship Premier Card’s combination of travel rewards, flexible redemptions and a relatively low annual fee makes it worth considering — particularly for Navy Federal members who want a travel card that’s easy to use.

1Flagship Premier Visa Signature® Credit Cards earn 4 points for every $1 of eligible purchases made on travel, 3 points for every $1 of eligible purchases made at restaurants (dining), and 1 point for every $1 of other eligible purchases. Eligible purchases are purchases for goods and services, minus returns and other credits. Eligible purchases do not include fees, interest charges, balance transfers, gambling, convenience checks, cash advances, or other cash-equivalents (e.g., money orders, gift cards, prepaid cards). Merchants are assigned codes by payment networks based on what they primarily sell. We rely on this information to identify travel and restaurant purchases. Travel is typically coded as airline, hotel, car rental, bus lines, taxis, cruise lines, time shares, parking, rideshare, and transit. A travel or restaurant purchase may only earn 1 point per dollar spent, depending on the code used to process the transaction. If the purchase is not identified as a travel or restaurant purchase, it will receive 1 point per dollar spent. For example, purchases made at restaurants within another establishment (e.g., casino, grocery store, event venue) may not be assigned a restaurant code, which means they will only receive 1 point per dollar spent. For more information, view the Program Description for the Flagship Premier Card.
2Receive a $100 statement credit each year after you spend a total of $100 or more on eligible airline purchases using your Flagship Premier Visa Signature® Card. Your eligibility for the credit begins on the date your account is opened and renews each year on that date. This date appears in the Member Since field under My Profile in the Navy Federal Rewards Center. Any unused credit will not carry over to the next year. The $100 spending requirement may be met through a single purchase or multiple purchases totaling at least $100. Merchants are assigned codes by payment networks based on what a business primarily sells. Only purchases coded as airlines or air carriers qualify as eligible airline purchases and will count toward the required $100 or more to earn the statement credit. Charter or private jet flights do not qualify. After the $100 in eligible airline purchases posts to your account, it may take 6-8 weeks for the statement credit to appear. The statement credit may not be posted or may be reversed if the purchase(s) is/are canceled, modified, or returned. Your account must be open and not in default when the statement credit is scheduled to post to your account. Only the primary cardholder is eligible for this credit. Purchases made by authorized users count toward the $100 spending requirement. Navy Federal may modify or end this offer at any time without notice.
3As of 02/02/2026, the Purchases, Balance Transfers, and Convenience Checks APRs range from 15.74% to 18%, are based on creditworthiness, and will vary with the market based on the U.S. Prime Rate. The Cash Advance APR is 18%. The Penalty APR is 18% and may apply to an account if it becomes over 60 days past due. ATM cash advance fees: None if performed at a Navy Federal branch or ATM.
