CardCritics™ Opinion
The DoorDash Rewards Mastercard earns its keep if food delivery is part of your daily routine. The best features, like rewards on DoorDash and dining, are important because they reduce the cost of convenience. With no annual fee and a surprising range of travel and purchase protections, this card is a good choice for other purchases as well. But if you aren’t a regular DoorDash customer and don’t spend a lot on dining and groceries, you should look elsewhere.
Our Critical Analysis:
DoorDash Rewards Mastercard®
- Earn 4% cash back on DoorDash and Caviar orders
- Dining out earns 3% cash back (when purchased directly at a restaurant), and groceries earn 2%
- Free year of DashPass (valued at $96) when you open the card, plus the ability to re-earn a year free if you spend $10,000 in a card anniversary year
- No annual fee
PROS
- Limited appeal outside food spending
- Annual DashPass qualification threshold is high
- Best value requires DoorDash loyalty
- Rewards aren’t transferable to airline or hotel partners
CONS
DoorDash Rewards Mastercard Benefits
The DoorDash Rewards Mastercard is pretty straightforward about what it’s best for: food. I added it to my wallet, knowing it couldn’t replace my rewards or dining credit cards. However, it covers more of my everyday spending, from restaurant meals and grocery runs, than I initially expected.
Elevated Cash Back on DoorDash
The card’s biggest perk is its rewards rate on DoorDash purchases. For users who order delivery regularly, whether for a quiet morning in or a late night at the office, this category alone can make the card worth having.
You’ll earn 4% cash back on DoorDash and Caviar orders. That 4% covers all types of DoorDash orders, including restaurants, groceries, pet supplies, retail and more. One of my biggest monthly DoorDash purchases is dog food for my senior pug, so I take advantage of this benefit often. Additionally, you’ll earn:
- 3% cash back on dining directly from a restaurant
- 2% cash back on grocery stores (online or in-person)
- 1% cash back on all other purchases
Cash Back Options
You have the option to use the cash back you’ve earned in several ways. You can pay for all or part of your orders at checkout, redeem as a statement credit or direct deposit or redeem for gift cards.
DashPass Perks
Cardholders also get DashPass benefits, which include:
- $0 delivery fees on eligible orders over the minimum subtotal
- Lower service fees
- Member-only offers
- Occasional credits on pickup orders (like DoorDash credits)
In addition, through June 30, 2026, cardholders receive 10% off one DoorDash convenience, grocery, alcohol, retail or DashMart order each month, up to a maximum $15 discount. To activate the discount, select the promo code within the app when placing an order. Note that this promotion doesn’t apply to Caviar orders.
Travel and Purchase Coverage
No-annual-fee credit cards don’t always come with extras such as travel insurance and purchase protections, but the DoorDash Rewards Credit Card offers a handful of both. When you use your card to pay, you can receive:
- Secondary car rental insurance
- Trip cancellation and interruption insurance
- Extended warranty protection
- Purchase protection
DoorDash Rewards Mastercard Drawbacks
Narrow Rewards Structure
Spending outside the card’s core categories earns a lower rate, so you will need another card to cover gas, travel or general purchases.
Note that the 3% back is not earned on purchases made through third-party food delivery services such as Uber Eats or Grubhub. If you order more through other platforms, this may not be the best card for you.
Limited Benefits for Occasional Users
This card isn’t great for those who see DoorDash as an occasional convenience rather than a habit. This is especially true if you live in a major city that offers several delivery services and you’re platform-agnostic. The DoorDash Rewards Mastercard doesn’t offer many lifestyle perks or premium benefits that would justify keeping it for sporadic use.
No Points Earnings
Rewards are earned as straightforward cash back, which means there’s no opportunity to transfer points to travel partners or maximize redemptions. For points enthusiasts, that may feel limiting.
Who Is the DoorDash Rewards Mastercard Best For?
The DoorDash Rewards Card is best suited for people who already use DoorDash regularly. If delivery is part of your weekly routine, whether due to long work hours, family schedules or urban living, the elevated earnings and DashPass perks feel practical rather than promotional.
I saw the card move from a “nice to have” to a “go-to food card” once I started tracking how much I was spending on DoorDash purchases. That said, if your spending is scattered across categories like travel, utilities, streaming and assorted bills, this card may feel limited in its benefits. It’s most effective when paired with a flat-rate cash-back card or travel rewards card that covers those categories.
Is It the Right Card for You?
If you’re considering the DoorDash Rewards Mastercard, it may be a good fit if:
- You order DoorDash often enough to benefit from DashPass perks
- Dining and groceries make up a large share of your monthly spend
- You prefer cash back over points and miles
- You want a no-annual-fee card
Alternatives to the DoorDash Rewards Mastercard
Several alternatives may offer broader or more flexible rewards if the DoorDash Rewards Mastercard doesn’t feel quite right:
- Chase Freedom Unlimited®: This card earns a flat cash-back rate on most purchases, including dining and travel. It’s a better option if you want simplicity across all spending categories.
- Capital One Savor Cash Rewards Credit Card: This card offers solid cash back on dining, groceries, and entertainment, and is best for those who don’t rely on a single delivery platform.
- Citi Custom Cash® Card : This card automatically earns its highest cash-back rate in your top spending category each billing cycle. For users whose food spending varies month to month, this approach offers flexibility without locking you into a single app.
