Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer is one of several airline loyalty programs that partner with Chase Ultimate Rewards, so you can indeed move Chase points over to Singapore Airlines to book award flights. However, not all Ultimate Rewards-earning cards are eligible for transfers; only annual-fee travel credit cards, such as the Sapphire Reserve and Sapphire Preferred Card, allow point transfers.

If you collect other credit card rewards beyond Ultimate Rewards points, note that you can transfer many of them to KrisFlyer, too, which can be helpful if you don’t have quite enough Chase points for the flight you’re looking to book. Beyond Chase points, American Express Membership Rewards® points, Citi ThankYou® points and Capital One miles transfer to Singapore Airlines.

All Chase transfer partners, including Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer, offer a 1:1 transfer ratio. That means each Chase point is equal to 1 KrisFlyer mile. There’s a minimum transfer amount of 1,000 points, with transfers in 1,000-point increments.

I’ve been lucky enough to fly in Singapore Airlines’ premium cabins on several occasions, all booked on points and miles. So I know firsthand how easy it is to move points over to the program online.

Here’s a step-by-step guide to transferring Chase points to Singapore Airlines.

1. Make Sure You Have a KrisFlyer Account

To transfer points to Singapore Airlines, you’ll need to have a KrisFlyer loyalty program account. If you don’t have one, you can create one for free on the Singapore Airlines website by navigating to the KrisFlyer section and looking for the option to sign up.

2. Link Your Chase and Singapore Airlines Accounts

Next, you’ll need to link your Chase and KrisFlyer accounts to complete the points transfer.

Navigate to the Rewards section of your Chase account online. If you have multiple qualifying Chase credit cards, you’ll need to select which card’s rewards you want to access. You can also combine Ultimate Rewards earned from different cards to boost your balance if you need to.

From there, select Travel from the top menu bar, and click “Transfer points to partners” from the dropdown menu.

Find Singapore Airlines in the list of transfer partners, then click “Transfer points.” You’ll be asked to provide your KrisFlyer loyalty account number. Once you have the two programs linked, you won’t have to repeat this step each time you want to transfer points.

3. Specify How Many Points You Want To Transfer

Once your Ultimate Rewards and KrisFlyer accounts are linked, Chase will ask you how many points you want to transfer.

Point transfers must be made in increments of 1,000, so you should triple-check how many KrisFlyer miles you’ll need to book your flight, then round to the nearest 1,000 for your transfer. This may mean you have a few hundred points “orphaned” in the KrisFlyer program, but at least they could come in handy for future redemptions.

4. Initiate the Transfer

After you’ve confirmed the number of points needed, click “Next.” You’ll see a confirmation screen with the details of your transfer. Make sure to review them closely first, then hit “Submit” to proceed.

Once the transfer goes through, you should see the points hit your KrisFlyer account within a few days. Some point transfers happen instantly, but that’s often not the case with moving Chase points to Singapore, according to various reports on Reddit and award-travel websites.

You’ll typically get an email from Chase confirming the points transfer, and you can head to your Singapore Airlines account to complete the award booking. Keep in mind that once you transfer Chase points to Singapore Airlines (or any partner), you can’t transfer them back.

Transferring Chase points to Singapore KrisFlyer (and to transfer partners in general) can be a great option when you have a specific use of your points in mind. This usually means your travel plans are more or less solidified, and you’ve found the exact award flight you want to book.

Singapore KrisFlyer, like many other airline programs, uses an award chart with various levels of pricing, so the exact same route can cost you more miles on some days and fewer miles on others.

Transferring Chase points to Singapore Airlines is almost always better than booking a Singapore Airlines flight with Chase points directly through the Chase Travel℠ portal, but it’s always worth double-checking. You can calculate the value you’ll get per point by finding a flight’s price in cash and dividing it by the number of points or miles needed to book it as an award. The higher the number, the better the value your redemption represents.

As for specific Singapore Airlines redemptions, booking a business-class award for a long-haul flight between the U.S. and Asia can be an especially strong option. I did this a few years ago to get home from Tokyo. Not only did it cost me about 40,000 fewer points than the business-class award to Asia I booked on United, but the onboard experience was also much better, from the seat to the service to the meals.

If you really want to splurge, Singapore’s first-class Suites are some of the most luxurious seats you can find in the sky. These are the most expensive awards to book, though, of course.

It’s never a good idea to transfer Chase points to a travel partner if you don’t have a specific redemption in mind. Award availability for flights and hotels changes constantly, so if you transfer points without a clear plan, you could find you can’t use them for your travel dates.

Loyalty programs also devalue their rewards all the time, meaning that an award flight you see today could cost many more points or miles down the road. So don’t assume that you’ll be able to book a flight for the same award price in the future.

The biggest mistake you can make when transferring Chase points to Singapore Airlines is not first confirming that an award flight is available.

Any time you want to move over points, you should first head to the KrisFlyer website and search for your desired flight to confirm seats are available. Once you’ve confirmed that, you’ll want to transfer points and make the booking as soon as possible.

Another common mistake is not factoring in Chase’s requirement that you round your points transfers to the nearest 1,000. You’ll need to round up, not down, if your award flight costs an odd number of points.
