If you’re a points and miles enthusiast, odds are you’re very familiar with Chase Ultimate Rewards®. These versatile points offer supreme flexibility and high-value redemptions, including transfers to partner airline and hotel loyalty programs. 

Iberia Club is the loyalty program of Iberia, Spain’s flag carrier. This is a great frequent flyer program to be familiar with, whether or not you plan to visit Spain anytime soon. The airline flies to close to 120 destinations in 45 countries across Europe, Africa, the Middle East and the Americas, allowing you to book affordable award flights almost anywhere you want to go. 

Thanks to Iberia’s membership in the Oneworld alliance, you can also book award flights on fellow member airlines through the Iberia Club. Plus, it uses Avios as its point currency, which you can freely transfer between other Avios-earning programs like Qatar Airways Privilege Club and the British Airways Club.

Here’s everything you should know about transferring Chase Ultimate Rewards points to Iberia Club. 

Can You Transfer Chase Points to Iberia Club? 

Iberia Club is one of the Chase transfer partners available to cardholders of eligible Chase credit cards, such as the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card or Chase Sapphire Reserve®, both of which are among the best travel credit cards. 

As a refresher, you can transfer your Ultimate Rewards to 10 airline frequent flyer programs and four hotel loyalty programs:

Chase Ultimate Rewards to Iberia Club Transfer Ratio 

Unlike other credit card issuers, all of Chase’s transfer partners utilize a 1:1 transfer ratio. In other words, 1,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points equate to 1,000 points or miles in the partner’s loyalty program. This makes transfers much simpler — no need to do complex math to know how many points you need to transfer to book an award redemption. 

Occasionally, Chase will offer transfer bonuses to select partners. These are typically limited-time bonuses, so you’ll want to keep an eye on your account to see if any bonuses are available. If so, you’ll be able to receive additional points whenever you complete a transfer. For instance, if Chase offered a 20% transfer bonus to Iberia Club, you’d receive 1,200 Avios for every 1,000 Ultimate Rewards you transfer. 

Step-by-Step: How To Transfer Chase Points to Iberia Club 

Step 1: Log in To Your Chase Account

It’s very easy to transfer your Chase points to the Iberia Club. First, log in to your Chase credit card account. On the home page, click “Rewards” in the lower right-hand corner. 

Step 2: Open the Transfer Partners Page 

Next, on the top menu bar, click “Travel,” and then click “Transfer points to partners.”

Step 3: Select Iberia Club

Next, scroll down to the “Airlines” section and click on Iberia Club. 

You’ll be taken to a page that shows you all the information you need about transfers, including average transfer times, any relevant promotional details, and terms and conditions. On this page, click “Transfer points.” 

Step 4: Enter the Number of Points To Transfer 

If you haven’t already linked your Iberia Club and Chase Ultimate Rewards accounts, you’ll be prompted to do so now. Start by entering your Iberia Club number (note that the name on your Iberia Club account must match the name on your Chase account), and click “Next.” Then, enter the number of points you want to transfer, and click “Next.”

Step 5: Confirm the Transfer 

Finally, you’ll be able to review the transaction before clicking “Submit.”’

When Does It Make Sense to Transfer Chase Points? 

It only makes sense to transfer Chase points if you know how you’re going to use them. Although you can technically redeem your points through the Chase Travel portal, you’ll typically get a far better value by transferring them to an airline partner. 

For instance, I took advantage of an Iberia award sale to book a one-way flight from Mexico City (MEX) to Milan (LIN), with a layover in Madrid (MAD), when my partner and I went to the 2026 Winter Olympics. I paid just 27,700 Avios, plus $338.82 in taxes and fees, for two tickets. Cash fares were extremely expensive, so I got a great deal on this flight. If I had booked through the Chase Travel portal, I’d redeem points based on the cash fare, which means my tickets could’ve easily drained my Ultimate Rewards balance. 

Also, since you can transfer Avios freely between Avios-earning accounts, it can make sense to leverage a transfer bonus for one airline to book a flight through another program. The British Airways Club, Qatar Airways Privilege Club, Iberia Club, Finnair Plus, Aer Lingus AerClub, Vueling Club, and Loganair all earn Avios. If you want to book a flight through British Airways, but Chase is offering a transfer bonus through Iberia, you can transfer your Ultimate Rewards points to your Iberia Club account, and then move them from Iberia to your British Airways Club account. 

When Does It Not Make Sense to Transfer Chase Points? 

We never recommend transferring points speculatively. Don’t transfer points just to have Avios sitting in your account. No-notice devaluations happen all the time, so only transfer your points if you know exactly how you plan to use them. 

Whenever possible, put your flight on hold before transferring the points. Not every airline will allow this, but it helps guarantee the flight won’t double in price before you can complete the transfer. You should also check how much the flight would cost when booked through the Chase Travel portal. Although rare, you can sometimes score a good deal through Chase. If you can save points by booking through the portal, it doesn’t make sense to transfer just to book directly with the airline. 

Common Mistakes To Avoid When Transferring Chase Ultimate Rewards Points to Iberia Club 

As with most redemptions, there are a few things you’ll want to avoid when you transfer Ultimate Rewards points to Iberia Club, including: 

• Not confirming award availability: You should always be sure your desired flight is available for an award redemption. Only transfer the exact number of points you need to book your flight. 
• Ignoring taxes and fees: Sometimes, taxes and fees on award redemptions can be exceptionally high. Don’t forget to calculate these into your overall point valuation to determine whether it’s worth redeeming miles or paying for the flight in cash. 
• Forgetting to compare options: More often than not, you’ll have numerous options when you’re ready to book a reward flight. Compare redemption costs with those of other carriers, partners and routes to determine whether your specific redemption makes sense. 

Most transfers are instant, but be aware that it can technically take up to seven business days for the transfer to process. In my experience, transfers are always instant. I add the flight to my cart, initiate the transfer, refresh the Iberia page, and immediately have the points in my account. Although Iberia lets you pre-book a flight free of charge for 24 hours, it doesn’t appear to be available for award bookings.
