Everything You Need To Know About Chase Lounges

Chase is the latest bank to enter the airport lounge market with its Sapphire Lounges. The issuer has already opened lounges in Boston (BOS), New York LaGuardia (LGA) and other major airports nationwide.
Chase Sapphire Lounges are a great place to work and relax before a flight, with each offering complimentary food and beverages and a place to sit outside the chaos of the terminal. These upscale locations provide a premium experience and take credit card airport lounge access to a whole new level.
We’ll show you how to access Chase Sapphire Lounges before your next flight.
What Is a Chase Lounge?
Chase Sapphire Lounge® by The Club — Sapphire Lounges for short — is a relatively small (but growing) collection of airport lounges in the U.S. and Hong Kong. Select Chase credit card holders can access Chase Lounges up to three hours before their flight and enjoy various perks.
Here’s what to expect the next time you visit a Chase Lounge during your travels:
- Fresh food with menus that change seasonally, both self-serve and made-to-order
- Open bars stocked with signature cocktails and other local specialties Non-alcoholic beverages like coffee, tea, water and soda are also available
- Comfortable seating away from the airport terminal
- Dedicated Wi-Fi networks for guests
- Wellness rooms and other wellness-focused perks are available at select locations
Food, beverages and other amenities are free of charge at all Sapphire Lounges. That said, there’s a paid experience — Reserve Suites — at the New York LaGuardia lounge. This private area in the lounge includes a dedicated waiter, caviar service, special food and beverage offerings, and other exclusive perks. You must reserve these suites 72 hours before your flight’s departure time.
How To Get Access to Chase Lounges
Those with Chase’s higher-end travel credit cards can enter Sapphire Lounges before a flight:
- Chase Sapphire Reserve®
- Chase Sapphire Reserve for Business
- J.P. Morgan Reserve
- The Ritz-Carlton™ Credit Card
You must bring your card’s included Priority Pass membership card or mobile app to enter the Chase Lounge. You can request your Priority Pass airport lounge membership online after you’re approved for the card in question. Unfortunately, you must have your Priority Pass card to enter — just bringing your Chase card will not suffice.
Further, you can only access Chase Lounges within three hours of your flight’s departure. Make sure to have your boarding pass handy before you enter the lounge, as staff will scan it before you can enter.
Priority Pass and Chase Lounges
Anyone with a Priority Pass membership can enter a Sapphire Lounge once per calendar year with their Priority Pass card. This includes Priority Pass memberships from competing banks’ travel credit cards, like The Platinum Card® from American Express, an advertising partner, after enrollment and the Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card. These members receive one visit network-wide, not per location. Additional visits cost $75 per person per entry.
There’s one exception to this rule: the Sapphire Lounge at Hong Kong International Airport (HKG). Anyone with a Priority Pass membership can access this lounge as often as they’d like, regardless of who issues their membership.
Further, those with Etihad Airways Gold and Platinum elite status can access the New York-JFK and Washington Dulles (IAD) Sapphire Lounges before flying. This also applies to first- and business-class passengers on Etihad Airways flights.
Can You Bring Guests Into the Chase Lounge?
Chase Sapphire Reserve and J.P. Morgan Reserve cardmembers can bring up to two guests into any Priority Pass lounge, including Sapphire Lounges. Additional guests cost $27 per person. There’s an exception for children under two years old, who can access the lounge free of charge.
Travelers with the Ritz-Carlton Credit Card can bring unlimited guests to all Priority Pass airport lounges and Sapphire Lounges. However, some Priority Pass lounges may impose guest limits of their own.
If you don’t have an eligible Chase credit card and are accessing with a third-party Priority Pass membership, you cannot bring guests with you for free. The Hong Kong lounge is the only exception to this rule. Any Priority Pass member can bring guests to the lounge, up to the limits of their membership. In other words, this lounge functions the same as any other Priority Pass lounge.
Where Can You Find a Chase Lounge?
You can find Sapphire Lounges at seven airports in the U.S. and one abroad. These lounges offer amenities such as complimentary food and drink, but each may have special perks like a wellness room at the New York LaGuardia lounge and a craft beer taproom at the Boston lounge:
